UNMASKED: Stories from the Sidelines of the Pandemic explores how everyday New Yorkers are dealing with the virus and its effects, specifically related to risk and the choice not to wear a mask in public. The film looks at those on the sidelines of the conflict, the normal New Yorkers who suddenly find themselves in a bizarre state of purgatory, unable to move forward, and faced with huge questions of personal wellness and public health. The film is also a love letter to New York during this unique period of calm. The cinematography tries to capture the loneliness and beauty of a city that, for once, sleeps.
